COMMUNITIES OF BELONGING AND WELL BEING

We all deserve communities that promote our health and well being. BARHII's Communities of Belonging and Well Being supports leaders creating the next generation of communities for well being.

The coalitions leading this work operate in communities across California and the nation. They represent all of the ways we live our lives in the country—in rural communities, urban enclaves, tribal nations, and suburban areas.

Diverse by geography, identity, beliefs, they are all asking one common question: What will it take to build the next generation of communities of belonging? And they are answering that question by taking immediate action to build what their communities need now: by establishing youth villages, opening wellness centers, creating community centers that build relationships, building homes at prices we can all afford, and by planning for tomorrow.

  • The Black Housing Advisory Taskforce (Black HAT) is a coalition of Black-led organizations working together to improve housing and economic development for Black communities across California. Together, we’re shaping the future of Black California by building organizational capacity and taking collective action.

  • The Anti-Displacement Network is a cross-sector alliance of national and regional community development intermediaries representing more than 500 community developers across the country. These organizations work across all the kinds of communities our nation calls home:  cities, suburbs, rural areas, and tribal lands to build belonging in the ways people live, work, and remain rooted in their communities. Together, they advance culturally grounded strategies in housing, small business development, cultural preservation, and climate resilience.
