Reparations

Public health is an early adopter of integrating racial equity into decision making to advance well being.   Across our nation, over 200 cities, counties, and other governmental leaders have declared racism a public health crisis.  Reparations present a great opportunity to operationalize racial equity for defined communities of eligibility.

Adverse community experiences are preventable, unjust, and rooted in centuries of systemic and institutionalized racism. A reparations lens is an opportunity for government and corporations to repair these harms and close the health and wealth gaps of Black families through redress, compensation, and robust policy and systems change.

BARHII is working to support the reparations movement in California and across the nation.
